Gary Rogowski started woodworking in 1974 with a radial-arm saw and his dad’s old hand planes. He now runs his own woodworking school The Northwest Woodworking Studio in Portland, Oregon and has produced numerous articles and videos for Fine Woodworking, including The Complete Illustrated Guide to Joinery. Gary’s school opened in 1997 and he holds year-round classes for novice to mastery level students.

Alexis Dolese Dolese Woodworks

Alexis grew up in a family of builders and artists. While designing and building her own house and working alongside her dad, a long time woodworker, she embarked on a career of building fine furniture. She apprenticed with many talented and successful woodworkers before starting her business in Bozeman in 2019. Alexis builds custom fine furniture and teaches classes at Montana State University and the Port Townsend School of Woodworking as well as at her own shop. Alexis is a founding member and the president of the Bozeman Woodworking Guild created to help develop the local woodworking community and encourage and support local craftsmen focusing on novice woodworkers.

Having caught the woodworking bug in middle school, Logan attended the University of Northern Iowa studying Graphic Communications with the intent of, one day, working at a woodworking magazine. After spending a portion of his career in the print industry, Logan became an assistant editor at Woodsmith magazine before taking the reigns at Popular Woodworking. During the spring and fall, Logan’s often found on the water or in the woods hunting and fishing. When summer rolls around, Logan’s often found outside, late into the evenings, covered in sweat and sawdust, running his sawmill.

As a youngster, he became engrossed in music, a passion that brought him to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he received a degree in music production and engineering. Soon after graduating, he began a career as a recording engineer in Nashville.
While expanding his woodworking and home-building skills, Ben also expanded his job skills, taking on video and audio projects for Lost Art Press, among others. He dove into web production and the social media landscape, connecting with all manner of woodworkers young and old.
In 2016, Ben and his family moved back to his native Connecticut. Since then, Ben has not only expanded and honed his woodworking skills, but also found a way to combine his two passions through lutherie.

During that time, she did everything from working at a sawmill, running a woodshop in a non-profit, teaching and assisting classes at Austin School of Furniture, to building fences and installing custom cabinets.
